
Ian Lucas has joined the Cogitamus consultancy team following his retirement from the UK Parliament in December 2019, having been elected five times to serve as Wrexham’s MP in the House of Commons from 2001.
A qualified and highly experienced solicitor before entering Parliament, Ian Lucas’s political career includes:
- Serving as UK Minister for the automotive and aerospace sectors, construction, corporate issues, regulatory reform and active industrial policy in the Labour Government led by Prime Minister Gordon Brown;
- Responsibility as a Government Whip for management of parliamentary business relating to the Ministry of Justice and the Cabinet Office;
- Establishing and chairing the All Party Parliamentary Group for North Wales and Mersey/Dee Region to improve infrastructure including rail, road and broadband, working cross-party with MPs, Members of the National Assembly for Wales, UK and Welsh Ministers, local government and industry leaders; and
- Membership of House of Commons Select Committees responsible for Transport and Digital, Culture, Media and Sport issues.
